OH MY GOD BUT YOU CAN’T TELL ANYONE. Okay, so here’s the thing for some reason admitting that you read fanfic during your middle school (also high school shhh don’t judge) was really embarassing back in my day, so I’m actually really relieved to see that more and more people are starting to see it as a valid form of literacy and not something to be made fun of for.
I think one of my favorite parts about fanfic from back in my day, yes really I have retired from every fandom I was once a part of, was how it was starting to grow in it’s validity to the creators of the shows, books, and movies we were all so obsessed with. Unless of course you were part of the Glee fandom like me and “Ryan Murphy” would explicitly do the opposite of what the fans wanted which, I guess, is a form acknowledging the fans but also he was just a rude ass who writes the same thing over and over again. Beside the point. The point is that there are shows such as “Supernatural”, that actually take the time to go through fanfics to see what the fans want and make it canon. Also, I actually was never into “Supernatural” but I should have been because damn was the “Glee” fandom a pain in the ass.
