Hey, guys! Your friendly neighborhood writing tutor Theresa B., here! I just thought I would stop in to share a few pieces of news about the writing center with you all.

  1. Finals Week Hours! Are you feeling nervous about a paper or a project? The finals week schedule for the writing center will span from Monday the 14th to Wednesday the 16th. The schedule should be up and ready to go by next Friday, so make sure to jump on that and make an appointment fast if you want one. However, if you have an important project due before finals week starts, the writing center is open Monday-Thursday from 9am to 7pm, on Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 5pm in the Loop, and on Sunday from 12pm to 7pm. Hope to see you there!
  2. Hiring! Have you ever wanted to have a super flexible, super fun job? Do you get excited about helping students accomplish their paper-related dreams? Do you have an eye for finding logical fallacies? Are you the master of commas and associated grammar rules? Are you a nice person and a good writer? If you answered yes to any of these questions (especially the last one), you might want to apply to work at the writing center next year. Everyone should be receiving an email soon from the writing center asking for applications. The application process is several steps: you submit a paper application, then you may be asked back for an interview, and then they’ll let you know if you received a position. The process spans about a month. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email; this year I’ll actually be working with the hiring process, so I look forward to hopefully seeing some of you in interviews!
