When you really think about it there are so many sponsors of literacy in my life. Literacy, I guess, is completely in pursuit of me. One of the biggest sponsors of my literacy were most likely my parents. Their sponsorship was rooted in the benefits that literacy would bring to me, and in turn them. The more literate I was the more likely I would be able to get into schools that would offer me scholarships and in turn would lessen the financial burden on them. And that’s only scratching the surface of the benefits of sponsorship they got from me and my sisters. Obviously there are many more sponsors of my literacy but I feel as if my parents are one of the major ones.

Something that I’ve been thinking about is the sponsorship of literacy at DePaul. So professors sponsor your literacy in filling out teaching evaluations which benefits them because those evaluations are used in tenure/teaching reviews which could result in university recognition or even compensation and salary consideration. The university, in turn, benefits from the evaluations because it allows them the gage the happiness/knowledge gained of the students, which they can then potentially use in their marketing materials when pursuing new students. Also high teaching evaluations could, potentially, lead to greater recognition in the higher education community which could result in more grants and even more money donated to the university.
